    Hi Guys,

How would you create dummy data for demo or test? I have been searching in google, some say to download a file and use that, can I just export my demo site with an xml file and use that instead? say, in future, import the xml file for the same theme?

    Thanks.

If you want to use dummy data instead of cloning a production site, use the demo data that comes with the theme. That's what the demo data is for.

    Thanks, Victor.

I'm still bit unclear.. let's say we've created a theme on our own, how do we get or create a XML data for sample purpose? so when the next user installs the theme, some sample data can be populated just like how we import the sample XML data from one of SP's themes.

Hope I'm not confusing. I'm assuming sample data and test data are the same.

When you create your own theme, you create the data in that theme as a demo, then export it as XML using the WordPress exporter. The exporter is a standard tool you'll find on the WordPress Admin Tool menu.

Thanks, Victor, yeah, already thought of doing this yesterday.

But it's good to hear it from an experienced developer like you, so for assurance.

    Thanks!

You can usually just google xml sample or example and download the xml templates.
