Create a Read More link on a post.

I'm using a News Pro Genesis theme and in my post I have included the more tag at one point. When I publish the post and view it, the only thing that replaces the more tag is […] and when I click on it nothing happens. It is not established as a link. Is there a way to replace the non clickable icon with a clickable link that has specific text and will open the post to its full length and full width as well when clicked on?
