Corporate Theme Homepage

My name is Mark.  I have just purchased a Genesis Corporate child theme.  I am totally new to WordPress.   I am in the process of moving  a couple of sites over to WordPress and it is a whole new ballgame to me.

I'm getting there with most of the pages, but I've been having problems with the Home Page that I cannot figure out.  I would like to have pictures in each column with text underneath.   I've watched a couple of videos on Youtube and was able to get pictures on the home page, but they are on there as links.  When you click the link it brings you to the page that I made to save them on, based on the instructions I had.

Also,  I cannot add text until many breaks after the image.

Can someone point me in the right direction to get the images on, not as links, and to also be able to get text directly underneath them?

You will see what I am talking about in the first column in the middle of the page.  The picture is a link and the text does not being until several spaces underneath.

Did you get this worked out? As a comment, if you want your columns to look more consistent you might want to pre-size your images. I do this in photoshop. For example you have one image that is 285 x 191 and another that is 240 x 243. Your columns are 285 wide.

In Photoshop I would create an image that was 285 x 285 and add the images as layers. After adding each one, save-for-web and the results would be two images 285x285. If you make them png files their background could be transparent, if a jpg it could be white. This will make your content line up more easily.
