Many posts in my blog have more than 500 comments. I do not want to split comments into several pages. That's why users are experiencing an increased load time. So, I just need to show post content only; not the comments. However, I want that viewers can able to comment clicking "Leave a Comment" link.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

P.S: Using eleven40 pro theme. I may be excused if support is only for theme related issues.

Please don't bump your own posts - if you do that, it drops off the list of "unanswered posts", which people use to filter questions which still need answering.

It appears that you are looking to allow users to leave a comment, but not see other comments? I am not aware of a plugin which will allow you to do that; you might want to ask the WordPress support community, as comments are a WP functionality, not specifically Genesis related.

(I'll ask ask on Twitter, to see if anyone has any suggestions for you)

    Hi there,

This isn't really the answer to your question, but if you're not planning to show comments, then why bother allowing users to continue to comment? Have them send you a message via form instead.

If you want to continue to use/show comments, another option would be to limit comments to only the most recent 50 (or whatever number you want).

@ susan: sorry for bump. i'll remember next time.

@ cdils: earlier i used to limit 100 comments per page. later i found some sort of warnings from google webmaster tools regarding duplicate titles etc. i exactly can't remember. it solved when i made changes to show all comments.
but now, few pages load time increased due to this.

so i decided to go for the functionality what the following plugin does.

    http://wordpress.org/plugins/hide-or-show-comments/

although it is very old, it works for non-genesis theme. as per installation instruction there is a code replacement in single.php but in genesis theme i couldn't figure out which file to modify.

    regards

    Hi Asif,
I would strongly recommend against using a plugin so dated. Doing so could open your site up to security threats or cause a conflict with another plugin.

That said, if you need to modify a single post or page, you can use WordPress conditional statements via your child theme's functions.php file. Here's a tutorial on conditionals with more info.

    Cheers,
    Carrie
