    Hey ya'll, how's it going?

I'm using the genesis theme and I'd like to make 2 changes:

    1. Make my header a little bit thinner
    2. Make my header black (and the header widget links white)

Here's what it currently looks like: http://screencast.com/t/mldGGs8Q2UNG

Here's a rough mockup of what I'd like it to look like: http://screencast.com/t/wJUNjDDoz

Can anyone help me out with some code?

    1. You can reduce the height simply be reducing the value for the height property under the Site Header section of your child themes style sheet.

    2. Same goes for the background colour and i suspect you're referring to the nav menu links where you'll find the CSS immediately after the Site Header section.

There's 2 ways to get the job done:

You can use a browser tool like Chromes Inspector or Firebug. This enables your o make the changes to your CSS in your browser before you change the CSS in your child themes style sheet.

    Or

You can setup a test site with a copy of your theme and make the changes in the style.css file to test first before you change the code in your live site.
