    Hi,

    I'm trying to change an h2 title on this specific page:
    http://www.fashionprofits.com/email-report-1/confirm/

    I've tried the following CSS code changes in the style sheet
    but neither seem to override the site-wide CSS:

    .page-id-723 h2 {
    color: #641a1a !important;
    }

    .page-id-723 h2 {
    color: #641a1a;
    }

    #page-id-723 h2 {
    color: #641a1a !important;
    }

    #page-id-723 h2 {
    color: #641a1a;
    }

    Can someone point me in the right direction?

    Thanks,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,

    you put the code inside the media query for 600px.
    The code you have at the moment is working if you put it outside of the media queries.

    Thanks Christoph!

    I'm just starting to crawl with CSS. I did not know there was an hierarchical structure to the style.css sheet.

    Would "hierarchical" be an accurate term for why the code did not work where I initially placed it?

    Thanks again for your help,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,

    you are welcome!

    Hierarchical is not 100% accurate.
    The cascading in css means that everything follows a sequence and the style sheet is read from top to bottom.
    Usually the instructions given further down in the document take precedent.
    If one instruction is more specific, this instruction is being used.

    Your code did not work for the whole website, because it was set in the context of what is shown on a screen size smaller than 600px. It is more about the location than a hierarchy.

    It´s like you want mustard on your hamburger, but instead you put it in the ice cream.
    The mustard doesn't show up on the hamburger but it is part of your meal...
    There is not really a hierarchy between hamburger and ice cream.

    Hi Christoph,

    Thanks for the instructional link and descriptive metaphor.

    It is a perfectly clear explanation.

    Regards,
    Peter
