Change fonts and colors of titles

I'm finally ALMOST happy with my new theme. Still working on fixing me header. After that I'd love to get in and change the colors and fonts that came with the theme. They are very small and the colors are hard to see. The theme offered 4 choices, but I'm not a fan of any of them. Is it possible for a newbie tech person to get in the code somehow and do it?

Hello, are you just wanting to change your font colors? I recommend using Firebug to see your source codes http://getfirebug.com/ if you place your cursor over the item you're interested in and right click, then choose inspect element - it will give you the codes that needs to be altred.

I am trying to change the background colors of a theme header. The theme we purchased, Magazine, had a black header background which looked cool at first, but we realized that it's really too harsh for our site, AbilityProduction.org, which is a non-profit organization which works with people dealing with spinal cord injuries or diseases. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know! I've found all the places in the css which SEEM to be black or dark, dark gray, but when I change them, nothing seems to happen.
