    How can I make the footer widget area only one col instead of 4 in the Metric theme?

    Hi,
    Try looking at Appearance.... Editor, and click on functions.php. You should see a line that looks like this:

    add_theme_support( 'genesis-footer-widgets', 4 );

    Just change that 4 to 1. You may need also some style.css changes if you want to make the 1 widget go all the way across or otherwise mess with it.
