ParticipantHello Everyone.
I went to make a change on my clients site and this message popped up:
The hspmentor.com page isn’t working
hspmentor.com is currently unable to handle this request.
500The site looks fine on the front end, but I'm unable to access the wp dashboard.
I called Godaddy and they ( through the backend files):
- Disabled all the plugins (that didn't change anything)
- Switched themes ( but I don't know if he got rid of both Genesis and Executive pro when he switched to the Twenty Fifteen theme) This fixed it so that we could access the dashboard. But when we put the proper themes back in place to make the site look the way it did before, it goes back to no access. He said that WordPress recently had an update. And we saw that Genesis just had one also when we were able to log in. We updated Genesis, and applied the Executive Pro them back in place, but non of page elements loaded.
He said that he saw a message that mentioned a problem with the Genesis Slider. There is a customization in the Genesis Slider file, but this test site: http://www.creativewordpressdesignes.com also has that same customization, and it's working fine.
I'm not sure what to do. I can't access the dashboard to do tests. Does anyone know what the problem can be.
Here is the site I am having issues with:
Thank you so much.

ParticipantSince I had two links in my message, wanted to make sure you knew which site I was having problems with, it's this site: http://www.hspmentor.com Thanks again. Jeanne

ParticipantDid you modify the Genesis slider plugin file directly?
Make sure you are using the latest version of Genesis and WordPress.

ParticipantHi Brad,
The genesis-responsive-slider.php file was edited to make the header image center while in mobile responsive view, this was a while ago. My test site has the same alteration, and it works fine, so I'm not sure if that is the problem.
Today, when the person from godaddy switched the themes to see if that was the issue, I was finally able to get into the WordPress dashboard again, so it seems it may be the theme. Once I was in the dashboard, I then saw it was asking for a Genesis update. I updated it, and enabled the executive pro theme, but the site didn't look right on the front end, everything was missing except the site color and the logo at the top of the page. I had to do a "restore" so at least the site looked ok on the front end. It's very confusing. I'm at a loss as to how to get the site back to being able to access the WordPress dashboard, or to get back in to update Genesis again and do tests.
Thanks so much,
Jeanne

ParticipantYou can upload the latest version of genesis to your server using File Manager in cPanel or FTP and overwrite the old version. This should solve the problem.
