I've been using WordPress and Studiopress themes for a while, but I've always kept it very simple. But, I LOVE the look of the Education theme, and I want to use a slider. Can you help? My site is http://nhwordsmiths.com.

    1. Can you have a static home page with a slider? If so, how? Every time I switch to static home page, the slider disappears.

    2. If I can't, is it possible to NOT have the posts appear below the slider? I'd like readers to click on them in the slider if they want the info. I'd actually rather have other info on the home page (thus the desire to have a static home page).

    3. Is there a tutorial somewhere on how to set up a slider using pages instead of posts? I couldn't find one, and everything I tried didn't work.

    4. Also, if you can tell me how to do it, is it possible to change the slider without breaking the page?

    Thank you in advance!
    Jeanne

Because Education Pro has a widgetized home page, you actually don't want to set it to "static home page". That will hide all of the widgets and make the homepage act like a regular WP page. You can use the tutorial in the Executive Pro theme setup (link below - look under HOME – SLIDER WIDGET AREA setup) to set the slider up to show pages with excerpts instead of posts.

I don't have the Executive Pro theme, so I wasn't able to see the setup instructions. But I searched and found a youtube video that showed how to set up the Executive theme. Now my slider is set up using pages. Thanks! I still need to fill in the other widget areas.

Question: If I have no posts, will the post's "Sorry, no content matched your criteria," go away once I have the widget areas filled?

    I appreciate your help!

Yes it will, providing you don't have a Featured Posts widget set up in that area. That might account for the "No posts matching that criteria" message that you are seeing.
