Can anyone identify the problem with my full-width image/text widget in Metro?

I added an image below the menu (in Metro theme) by creating a new widget area 'after-header'. When I used 'TwentyTwelve' my image was 3.5cm x 23.5cm. In Metro theme the image is taking up about 3.4cm x 22.5cm and the detail is gone: I think it is vertically stretched. Also, the text widget area appears to have a lot of white space under it as the breadcrumb trail is pushed much lower down.

My site is in maintenance, but I could send a subscriber username and password to anyone if my description above isn't informative enough.

You'll want to check to see what the px size of the image is; cm really doesn't mean much.

If you're using Google Chrome, you can right-click on the image, "inspect element" and it should tell you how large of an image you're looking for.

On TwentyTwelve it is 1940x355 scaled to 927 x 169 (if I 'view image info' in firefox)
On Metro Pro Theme it is 1940x355 scaled to 888 x 162

I originally made that image (a banner of 5 photos stuck together) in PowerPoint and I used a ruler held up against my 12.1" screen to measure what size it needed to be, and to make it that size before doing 'save as image' and uploading it. Maybe that means my picture will only ever look good in TwentyTwelve, but I think it ought to be able to look good in other themes.

I have tried to make a picture comparing them... no idea if it will work... and maybe it will shrink them a bit anyhow...

The "scaled to" is the number you want to shoot for. If you can upload your image at 888x162, it should look just about perfect at that size.
