    I am trying to apply a modified version of the button class in my theme to a section of the website.
    Specifically, I want to modify four things: background color and font color for display and hover.
    For some reason three of them work but the font color when i hover is not picking the color i specify.
    No clue why.

    I called this button subclass button-contentv1.
    Here is the page where I invoke it (at the bottom):
    http://logisticsnetworkdesign.com/expertise/supply-chain-planning/

    And here is the CSS code in my style. file...

    .button-contentv1 {
    background-color: #ddd;
    color: #993333;
    font-family: Roboto, sans-serif;
    font-size: 18px;
    padding: 20px;
    margin: 12px 0;
    text-transform: capitalize;
    }

    .button-contentv1:hover {
    background-color: #800000;
    color: #FFFF00;
    }

    What am I doing wrong??

    Hi,

    in general you did everything right.
    The problem here is that you are using Genesis Design Palette Pro to define two colors for a:hover.

    To get your values to be used you have to be a lot more specific:

    .site-inner .content .entry-content a.button.button-contentv1:hover{

    Thank you Christoph.
    Interesting that Design Palette would force the hover text color and not the other button/hover features.

    I implemented your code change, still doesn't pick the color I want....
    At least now I know where the color is coming from - and can manage by modifiying it there - at least for now...

    You have to use # in front of your color.
    #fff999;
