Hi, I'm Christine, new to SP forum. Glad to be here. I've been using SP for my own sites for awhile now and totally love it. Find it easy to use and intuitive.

I have a question about building SP sites for clients.

I read in the Q & A that I can use my SP and Genesis to build client sites but I'm not clear on how that works. Does that mean that I host the clients site or can I install genesis and the theme on their website? Or, do I install the theme on their website and they don't need genesis?

I apologize if I'm not wording this correctly to get my question across. Please ask if it's not clear.

And many thanks in advance for all replies.

Studio Press will encourage to use Genesis on client sites. Child themes won't work without Genesis. You can install Genesis and a child theme on a client site. They will not have support from Studio Press unless they purchase a license. If you install Genesis with a child theme, you would need to support any Genesis related questions.

You can install Genesis and then any StudioPress theme on any WordPress installation.

Genesis is the parent theme framework and StudioPress is the child theme.

All modifications should be done in the child theme and Genesis files should never be edited.

Victor, thanks very much for the clarification. I had thought that's how it might work but wanted to be sure. I'm inclined to encourage clients to buy the license.
