Blog Title Help

My blog title is "Buggy and Buddy". On my site, Craftiness, it's displaying the "Buggy and" and then the "Buddy" below the previous two words which looks weird because they overlap. Is there a way for my entire title to be in one row?

Hi,

What you need to do to achieve what you're looking for is adjust a few lines of code in your style.css.

First look for #header .widget-area on line 213 and decrease the width, next look for #title-area on line 182 and increase the width.

This should bring your title on one line, only problem then is your title covers your description, to change this I would adjust #title on line 190 by either increasing the bottom margin or adding padding.

Thanks, Stewert. I think I see where to do that, but I'm a super newbie to this type of stuff and don't want to mess anything up. So, the code is in my Genesis parent theme. Is that okay to adjust there? If not, how do I do it in my child theme?

No you should never need to adjust the Genesis Parent Theme, always make edits in your child theme, to do this there are a few different ways.

You can use and ftp client to connect to your site and adjust the child theme files there.

Or you can login to your your admin dashboard and got to Appearance > Editor and adjust your files from there.

But just be careful adjusting the files can break your site, so I would advise backing up your files before you make and changes, so If something goes wrong you can always change back.

Thanks, Stewart! I did it ~ so excited! Now, all I want to do is to have a tiny bit more space between the description and the tabs below. Can't figure it out...

Look for #description in your style.css on line 204 and either adjust the padding and/or add margin.

Example:
#description {
padding: 10px 0;
}

Then just adjust the value of 10px to your desired gap.

As a note, you might wanna check tools like Firebug. That way you can quickly see the selectors you want to modify, with details.
