I have tried to exclude the post category "slider new" used for the genesis slider from the blog posts page but it is not working.

Any have any ideas how to exclude slider new/category id "72" from the blog page - have tried different things for 2 days. Getting frustrated. Thank you

Are you using the Genesis blog template or displaying the blog posts with the WordPress block template?

If you are using the Genesis nblog template, you can use query_args: https://victorfont.com/use-query_args-filter-wordpress-posts/

If using the WordPress template, you have to modify the wp_query. That's custom coding.

Hi Victor assume I am using a genesis blog template; the theme is hello pro which is third party so I am not sure. I did try what you suggested in your blog post and it didn't work - - not sure. IS there a way to tell what blog template was used.

    thanks

Under the Genesis Theme Settings, did you add that number to Exclude Categories under the Blog Page Template settings? ** I only ask because you did not specify how you were trying to exclude it. **

Hi Anita , thank you. I did try that - in Theme Settings, blog template, exclude categories - and entered the post category. That didn't work either. Kinda Stumped

That's odd. It works for me. Can you just double check the category ID? Walking through steps:

    1. You created a page called Blog, selected Blog from the Page Templates, correct?
    2. Went to Genesis > Theme Settings and placed "72" (without the dash (-) in there) and Saved it.
    3. Not working.

    Are those the steps?

Hi I rechecked the theme allows for default and landing as the page templates. Could that be the issue because "blog" is not an option?

Yes, that is probably what's happening because that setting is for the template. I'm not sure how they've coded that since it's third-party. Maybe reach out to BrandID's support here - https://thebrandidthemes.com/support/. Third party handles their own support.
