    Hi,

    Theme : News

    I'd like to know how I can get sharper thumbnails on my home screen.

    They currently look blurry. The original images are larger (740px wide) so there's no reason for them to be blurry.

    Is there a setting to improve the image quality of these thumbnails?

    Thanks in advance.

    Can anyone provide some insight to this issue. Is there a setting to increase the thumbnail resolution??

    Thanks,
    Gio

    You can adjust the quality of jpeg images in WordPress, by adding this to functions.php:

    add_filter( 'jpeg_quality', create_function( '', 'return 100;' ) );
    add_filter( 'wp_editor_set_quality', create_function( '', 'return 100;' ) );

    If you use this, make sure you regenerate thumbnails.

    Other than that, there's not much that can be done. However, you you switch to SVG images, you'll get crystal clear at any resolution because SVGs are vector based as opposed to bitmap. The majority of the images on this site are SVG: https://houseplanworks.com/.

    Thank-you.

    Do you know where the image quality setting is for all of the theme images? Is there a global setting to make all images 100%?

    Either way, thanks for looking into this for me.

    Other than what I already gave you, there is no image quality setting in WordPress. You could try playing with CSS image-rendering: https://css-tricks.com/almanac/properties/i/image-rendering/
