    I'm working on the redesign of our news website. I was going to use the Metro theme, but some of our elements just don't seem to work there. These are services we subscribe to, so we can't really restyle them to fit.

    The Going Green theme has all the colors and fonts that I want. I dismissed this theme early on because I need a leaderboard in the header, a slider and a 300 pixel sidebar. Also, I don't care for the widget headers for the sidebar. They aren't terrible, I just think they are too big and bulky. We have to cram a lot of stuff in the sidebar.

    I've been running through options today and, quite frankly, need someone from the outside to give me some ideas! 🙂 Today I switched to the News theme - after some frustrating play with Going Green. While it isn't bad, I can't stand that graveled background - and can't seem to make it go away.

    Our site currently runs on Lifestyle 1.1 and desperately needs a refresh.

    You know, I'd go with Going Green or Quattro - customize either one of those. Quattro has a wider width and comes with a sidebar width to accommodate a 300px wide ad spot. I just really like that theme. It's mobile responsive and you can add all the colors you want. If you want a different home page layout, I could give you one more like what you already have.     You could also go with WPCanada's free child theme called BlogNews which is based off Metro - http://demo.wpcanada.ca/blognews/.

    Thanks so much! I found BlogNews this morning, but frankly, I'm always leery of free themes. It seems like the support fades away after a while.

    He's an excellent developer. Don't be leery. He's 100% legit and like I said, the code is based of of the Metro theme - demo.studiopress.com/metro. It's a trustworthy website and developer.
