Before Header Hook

I am wanting to place my Social Media Buttons above my Header on the right side. I've been told in order to do this, I need to use a before_header hook. I've "googled" that but am still not entirely sure how to do this. My custom icons are already hosted on my server. My site is http://thehopemission.org and I am running Pretty Young Thing child theme.

Could someone please either point me to a tutorial or walk me through how to do this?

You can use the Genesis Simple Hooks plugin which provides fields for each genesis hook. I also recommend reading through the hook tutorials in my.studiopress
