I have been wondering if we can do this through some customization. Here is a print screen that shows exactly what I am trying to do with my layout. There is the Original and the edited version. anyone knows how to do this? Thanks in advance.

Only works on HTML 5 themes.

Convert to your XHTML markup and Loop hooks to HTML 5 if needed
