I'm working for a client cloning websites and part of the work is making edits to certain text & links across the site. Is there any way to do this with a config file or a snippet? Right now I'm doing it all manually and it takes me about 30 minutes to make all the changes.

Content is stored in the database. If you are talking about post content it is stored in wp_posts and wp_post_metas. If you are talking about text and links that are used for plugins or configurations, it is stored in wp_options or custom tables.

Quite often, you'll find that developers have chosen to store content in the form of serialized arrays.

Because content IDs are unique to each WordPress instance, there's no way a snippet would work, unless you searched the entire database for the exact string. If the content is in a serialized array, you would break it if you don't unserialize it first, make the change, then re-serialize it.

You could try a plugin like Better Search and Replace Pro. It could save you a little time.

I had a feeling it was a pipe dream, thanks for confirming it!
