    I've got a widget with some content on the left side of a page, along with a main content area on the right. These two areas were out of alignment with each other, but I managed to line them up with some CSS to push the widget area down a bit...

    .lessons .sidebar .widget {
    margin-top: 48px;
    }

    I created a custom body class in the Genesis dashboard to make this happen. Now I want to get the breadcrumb back on the left, but it's not happening yet. When I inspect the widget it shows an increased margin area above it--so the highlight appears. Is this blocking the breadcrumb from moving to the left, and if that's the case can anyone point me in the direction to achieve this?

    Here's the page in question.

    Many thanks!

    The default position for breadcrumbs is inside of the content area. Your layout has the sidebar on the left and the content on the right. The breadcrumbs are aligned to the left of the content area. If you want to align them to the left of the page, you need to reposition them to render after the header. This snippet will allow you to do so: http://my.studiopress.com/snippets/breadcrumbs/#reposition

    Great, thanks Victor! I got this change to work, but I'd like to have breadcrumbs on the left whether there is a content area on the left or a sidebar. Any guidance on how to do this? I've seen a few articles on creating if/then statements in php to remove breadcrumbs from certain pages, wondering if something similar could be created to put them on the left regardless of what's beneath them.

    I suppose I could just keep the layout the same on every page, but I want to see if I can figure this out first...

    You could try wrapping the code in the WordPress is_active_sidebar() function: https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/is_active_sidebar
