MemberHello All,
I have run into a bit of a "creative" wall with my website and I ran across a "competitors" site that I think looks really good. If you are reading this Mr. Gonzalez, great job!
I would love to get my site to appear more clean like this one: http://www.northcentralhomes.com/. The main areas I am focusing on that I have trouble with are:
1.Slider - he has the search over the image, essentially looking like one widget. I currently have two widgets but like his functionality
2. Ribbons - I like the way the site is structured with the ribbons to section off each specific area of the site from top to bottom. I.e. communities, listings, blog posts, etc. I also tried to put a secondary widget to the right like that site but they don't show up.
3. Calls to action - I really like the three "buttons" he has just below the slider. is that something custom from your assessment?
4. The header image has some cool icons for phone, email etc.
5. The menu goes the entire width of the page and also has dividers between the links.
Any thoughts or was this Agent Press on steroids with the additional cost of a designer? I'm fairly competent and can find work arounds but I could certainly use some pointers!!!!
Any help is appreciated!
And Josh, if you are willing to grab a coffee and collaborate, I would be extremely grateful!!

MemberIt's definitely AgentPress with a designer's touch. The buttons you mentioned below the slider are just images, for example, and the overlay on the slider was done with CSS. The contact icons in the header are also just images that are linked to each contact method.
I know people hate to spend money on websites, but sometimes it really makes sense to spend your time on the things you're skilled in and outsource the things that take up too much time/energy to learn. /steps off soapbox 🙂

MemberThanks Andrea,
I definitely appreciate you looking at that for me. I'm stuck in a weird place because I love tinkering with my sites but you are correct, I can only take it so far. I'm trying to find that point where I outsource
It because I can't do it or do I just keep playing with it because it is a matter of effort to get it how I want it.
Thanks again!!!February 10, 2014 at 11:37 am #89686JFlowers
MemberDoes anyone know the cost of adding these customizations? This site looks very good.

MemberHi JFlowers,
The costs would vary depending on your needs. If you're looking for a developer, I would recommend that you start with the StudioPress recommended developer list: http://www.studiopress.com/genesis-developers
