Hi there,
Thank you for your support. Recently I switched to Synthesis for my web hosting and I'm very happy with it! Now I really want to set up my website with excellent performance in mind. And I know that's going to be a lot easier with these great products and services!
The question I have is regarding the Parallax theme. Also for another site http://aziemafatima.com which also runs on the Genesis Framework but with a different child theme.
I decided to use AddThis for social sharing. (I hope that it's a good choice in combination with the Genesis Framework). Instead of working with plugins which offers less customization abilities, they offer full options with codes. They provide all the codes needed, but my problem is that I don't know where to put the codes.
First I needed to add this code at the end of the 'head' section:
<script type="text/javascript" src="//s7.addthis.com/js/300/addthis_widget.js#pubid=ra-53a3fe7436d7e95c"></script>
That wasn't too hard. I just copied and pasted that in the box for Header Scripts in Theme Settings under Genesis.
Next, the part I find difficult, I need to copy and paste different codes on the places or pages I want the tools to appear. When contacting their support team about it, their answer was that I need to add the HTML into my site's template. And that's what I need your help with because I don't know where I can put those codes.
I'd like to have the Responsive Sharing Buttons at the top and bottom of my posts. And I've been given this code:
<!-- Go to http://www.addthis.com/dashboard to customize your tools -->
<div class="addthis_responsive_sharing"></div>But I don't know where to put that code. Could you tell me where to put it?
Also, I'm being asked to specify the screen resolution where the desktop buttons convert to touch friendly mobile buttons. How can I find the Responsive Width of the Parallax theme or any other child theme for the Genesis Framework?
I'd like to thank you in advance for your help with this!
Sincerely,
Hashim Naushahi

Thank you so much for your reply! I didn't expect an answer so fast and it proved to be very helpful! I would have responded sooner, but due to my daughter becoming sick, I couldn't continue my work. Luckily, she's all better now! 🙂
I prefer adding the code without the plugin, and thanks to you I found the place where to add the code. With Genesis Simple Hooks I added the code for the Custom Sharing Buttons in the Genesis_entry_header and Genesis_entry_footer. And now when I look at my posts, the buttons show up at the beginning of every post underneath the title and above the date and author name and at the end of every post right after the tags.
This is all because of your guidelines, and I'm very grateful for it! Thank you!
I hope you could help me accomplish three more small things...
The first is that now the social sharing buttons not only show up in my posts but also in my excerpts. And I don't want that. Do you know how I can fix that? The only thing I did is add the code that I got from AddThis for it in the Genesis_entry_header and Genesis_entry_footer and nothing else.
The second is that somehow the same number of Facebook likes is showing on all of my posts. So I suspect that the counter doesn't show the likes of the posts, but the likes of the website itself. Do you know how I can make the necessary changes so that the counter doesn't show the website likes but the blog post likes?
The third is that I'd like to customize the buttons somehow that they don't line up to the left but maybe to the right or centered. What really would be awesome is if the buttons (four or five) can be modified in such a way that they're stretched out so that the total width of the blog post is covered. But I don't know how to customize. Do you know how I can make such customizations or where I can find the information I need to do this? I'll probably make the same customizations for the follow buttons in the sidebar.
Thank you once again, Brad! I really hope you can help me with my final questions about this plugin. You're site is truly amazing and I bet that a lot of WordPress developers and designers are very happy with your site. I wouldn't be surprised if your website is the number one resource online for everything related to WordPress. 😉
