    Hi Guys,

    Apologies for the newbie question here but I'm trying to add widgets to the sidebar of my executive pro theme but can't find where to go. Also can you add different widgets to the sidebar on different pages or do they have to be the same for multiple pages? Any help would be much appreciated guys. Cheers.

    Hi,

    You can add widgets to a sidebar two ways, as in any other theme:

    1. From Widgets: Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets. Drag an available widget onto the chosen sidebar, drop and complete; click "Save".
    2. From Customizer: Dashboard > Appearance > Customize. Click through to open your selected widget, click on the +Add a Widget button, click on the widget to add it to the sidebar.

    The sidebar(s) use the same widgets for every page and post with the sidebar(s) assigned. To setup different sidebars per post/page, you can use Genesis Simple Sidebars. Simply create the sidebar using the plugin (Dashboard > Genesis > Simple Sidebars), fill the sidebar with your specific widgets, then assign the specific sidebar from the editor of the page or post.

    Thanks Tom that worked a treat. There was one other issue that I forgot to mention that is doing my head in.
    I've added links to my footer on the main page which shows a small graphic with the Description next to it. There are about 5 links that display here and the font is in a white colour because the footer bar at the bottom of the page by theme default is in black so in which case you can see the link description which is fine.
    The problem though is when I'm adding the same links into the sidebar of multiple pages by default the sidebar background is white so when I add the links you can't see them. Is there an easy way to change the colour of the link descriptions so I can see them against a white background? Sorry if this doesn't make sense. Cheers.

    Hmmm. The default styling for links placed in each area should pick up the associated styling, just as in the demo. If this is unsuitable, you could add a CSS class to the links in the sidebar and style them with a contrasting colour. Some thing like:

    <a href="http://foobar.url" class="foobar" alt="FooBar Link">Foobar Link</a>

    .foobar a {
        color: black;
    }

    Hi Tom,

    Sorry mate I'm really dumb when it comes to this. How would I add the CSS class to the links in the sidebar? Do I inspect element?

    How did you initially create the links that are the problem?

    If it's with HTML in a text widget, then just add the class as shown above.
