I've tried every bit of code I could find on Google for adding the [Read More] button to the end of post excerpts for the Genesis platform but have not had any luck whatsoever. The code doesn't break my theme in any way but it just isn't doing anything. Any ideas? Also, why doesn't Metro Pro come configured like the demo theme out of the box? That's what I thought I was paying for when I purchased the theme.

    Hi there,

Try this tutorial from Pretty Darn Cute Designs. I just used it and it works. It replaces the ... with a read more link.

Hi, thanks for that link. I tried it and it didn't do anything either. Which leads me to wonder if there is something wrong with my site itself why it isn't having any effect. I really haven't done much editing to my site yet though or customizations, so this is really strange.

I don't know how much you've already tried but I know I'm able to control the read more text inside the individual widgets under customize. Are you talking about adding the read more to your homepage, archives, or both?

I believe this is what you are referring to right?

When I change that it doesn't do anything to the [...] that comes after my post excerpt. Very strange.

Oh, I think I've got it now. I had to change Content Type to "Show Content Limit."
