I added this code to my Prose child theme so "click to continue" is added to my blog roll. How would I go about assigning the colour #336699 to the [click to continue...] link?
Thanks!
Here is the code I added:
/** Custom Read More link for Genesis Post Excerpts */
function custom_read_more_link() {
return '<a href="' .get_permalink() .'" rel="nofollow">[click to continue...]</a>';
}
add_filter( 'excerpt_more', 'custom_read_more_link' );
add_filter( 'get_the_content_more_link', 'custom_read_more_link' );
add_filter( 'the_content_more_link', 'custom_read_more_link' );March 11, 2013 at 6:02 pm #25541joycegraceParticipantIf you link to your site we can help you find the css that is controlling it. You should install firebug on firefox and learn how to use that, it's a big helper with these sorts of things.

March 11, 2013 at 6:28 pm #25548JesseMemberThe link comes up blue in firefox but black in IE.
March 12, 2013 at 12:11 am #25603joycegraceParticipantHi Jesse, the colour has already been assigned to your links site wide. I am not sure why it comes up black in IE, but IE is a non standards compliant browser, so there are lots of things that will show up weird in different versions of IE. I am on a mac so I can't help you there. You'd probably have to do some deeper troubleshooting, and find out which version of IE in particular it is happening on (it probably isn't happening on all versions).
By the way, I noticed your "click to continue" link is has a nofollow link rel on it. This is probably not the best idea for your SEO. Generally nofollow should be used on external links only BUT, overusing it is probably not that great for SEO nowadays either because it's not a 'natural' way of linking. I am pretty sure SEOmoz did a test on this if you want to look it up.

I'll definitely look up nofollow links on SEOmoz. What is the best way to link the "click to continue?"
March 12, 2013 at 3:39 pm #25727joycegraceParticipantHi, I'm not sure how you got in there in the first place, but if it is coded to be a nofollow then I would get rid of that in the code. Or it could be some other setting in your site, from a plugin or from the theme, causing all links to be nofollow. It's hard to say without digging deep into it.

Do you know why the bottom of my Facebook Social Plugin gets cut off in my blog sidebar? I've tried just using code in a Widget and the actual plugin and both do the same thing. Off topic I know but I figured you might be able to help.
Thanks!
March 12, 2013 at 6:01 pm #25755joycegraceParticipantIn my experience that is just a Facebook flaw. You can try increasing the pixel height of that box, it might help. But sometimes it will add another row of 'fans' or 'friends' and create the same problem. And sometimes it will go away, and sometimes it doesn't. It's weird. I don't know much about how to customize that Facebook box, only that I've experienced the same thing on other sites.
