Adding a homepage slider to Sample theme

I am customizing the Sample theme and want to add a slider to the homepage. I don't see instructions on the theme set up page: http://my.studiopress.com/setup/genesis-sample-theme-setup/ but there is a page for "slider settings" in the Genesis options. Can anyone point me to instructions or a tutorial?

I am using the Genesis Responsive slider. I understand how to configure the settings, but how do I add it to my homepage? Some of the other genesis themes have a widetized homepage but not the Sample theme.
