Hi,
I am having issues with the custom header. When I add my own image, the quality to which it uploads changes dramatically. It turns my sharp .png image into something fuzzy. I have tried changing the functions for size, but it doesn't seem to matter. I am not sure what is affecting the quality of it.
When I try and add the HTML snippet for the header to my website, it places the header way above the content. I would like it placed closer to the content but cannot find a way to do this. For some reason I find that the Fabric theme set up is really complicated for customization and mods. I don't have access to any sort of header.php and/or index.php or the likes.
So, how do I make this happen?
January 15, 2013 at 9:56 am #12061Jon BellahMemberPlease, add your image to the header so that I can see what it's doing.
Also, how are you adding the HTML snippet?
Genesis takes a little time to understand, especially if you're used to being able to edit the header.php/index.php files. However, you can still do all of the same things you did with old themes, just now in a different way. Using Genesis hooks, you can achieve the same result. Christopher Cochran runs an awesome site over at GenesisTutorials.com, which provides a visual hook guide; so you can see where you should add your code to the site.
Greg Rickaby, Bill Erickson, and StudioPress founder Brian Gardner all have great blogs full of great info on how to work with Genesis.
I'll also plug my own blog, though I have a lot less content than the other gents.
Follow me on the Twitters at @JonBellah. I blog about web design, development and a lot about Genesis at CSSForge.com

What HTML snippet for the header are you referring to and where are you adding it?

January 15, 2013 at 7:09 pm #12173WellReadReviewsMemberYes, I took it down. I initially tried using the custom header option through the Genesis framework, but the image is uploading incredibly fuzzy. I was thinking of adding the typical IMG code. I added it into the header code box, but it shows up too high. Should I set it up so you can see what I mean?
January 15, 2013 at 7:38 pm #12181SoZoMemberYes. Put the header image back in and post a link to the original image file so I can see what you're comparing it to.
And do you mean the script box in the Genesis settings panel? That is for scripts.

January 16, 2013 at 3:28 pm #12433WellReadReviewsMemberI have added the header and an add to the header code option in Genesis framework. http://wellreadreviews.com/
There is a ton of empty space from the bottom of the header and the content. I cannot seem to minimize this space. Thank you for your help. 🙂
January 16, 2013 at 3:31 pm #12434SoZoMemberThat box is not for a header image.
