I need to have the home page be first two-thirds text, last one-third slideshow. I had this setup with a static image no problem, however, I cannot get a slider to display properly in a text widget. I tried two different "enhanced" text widgets which are supposed to work with shortcodes, but the slider still will not display. I must use a text widget because I need the text to display to the left of the slider, and I cannot do that if I use a slider widget.

Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated!!

You need to add support for shortcodes in text widgets.

    Thank you for the reply!!

I tried both of those methods in the link -- the plugin and adding the code to the functions.php file. Neither worked. I added the code to the bottom of the file (screenshot below) -- is that the wrong place to add it??

One more bit of info....if I check the page where the slider should appear with Firebug, the slider code is there, but nothing is visible on the page.

The code is added to functions.php

Did you create a slider with images?

    Which slider is it?

Any reason you can't use the Genesis Responsive Slider?

That's good, because the functions.php file is where I have been placing the code! After posting here, I did try experimenting with different placements within the file, but nothing worked.

I am using the Huge-It Slider plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/slider-image/

I will try the Genesis slider, but have not before for two reasons...one, it has not been updated in over a year (I try to stick to plugins with recent update history, so I don't spend time on something about to be obsolete), and, two, I could not see in its description where I could set the size of the slideshow.

I'll post after I try the Genesis slider. Thanks again for the help!!!

Good news: The slideshow is working!! Bad news: I'm an idiot LOL!!! One of the first things I always do when something doesn't work the way it should, is close browser, clear cache, relaunch browser....but I didn't think of it right way this time. Just cleared the cache, and it appears to be working perfectly.

I appreciate your time and help so much -- thank you!!!
