Hello I was wondering if there is a way to add blog posts to the widgetized default homepage on the Serenity theme. For example:

Is the default homepage. Is there a way to have the blog posts displayed (not as widgets, the actual blog posts) on the homepage above the Featured Right and Left widgets? I have set the homepage to show latest posts in the Reading setting, but still the blog posts do not appear. Thanks!

Try removing the home.php file from the child themes folder.

Hey Brad thanks so much. If I remove the home.php then I would lose the right and left featured widget areas, etc? I was hoping to add a blog feed maybe above where the Genesis Slider widget area lives.

You could hook them in again using something like split widgets with the is_front_page() conditional tag.

Or you could hard code a loop using WP_Query into the home.php file or even hook it in using a custom function.

An easier option is to add a widget for recent posts or the Genesis Featured Posts to the home bottom widget area.
