    I am using the Balance theme and I have the theme settings set to "display post content" with a limit of 400 characters. On a category index page it abruptly cuts off the text at 400 characters. Is it possible to add a "..." at the end to indicate that the user should click "Continue reading"? I'm sorry, but I can't post a link because it's still in development.

    Alternatively, I tried using Post Excerpts but that doesn't display the "continue reading" link so I thought this would work better. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

    add_filter('get_the_content_more_link', 'custom_read_more_link');
    function custom_read_more_link(){
        return '... <a class="button readmore" rel="nofollow" href="' . get_permalink() . '">Continue Reading &rarr;</a>';
     }

    You can try the above code. Add the code in functions.php file of Balance Theme.
