    Hi

    Just wondering if anyone knows how to enable a 4 column footer in the Genesis Sample theme?
    I tried this but there are still only 3 Footer Widgets on the Appearance > Widgets page:

    // Add support for 4-column footer widgets
    add_theme_support( 'genesis-footer-widgets', 4 );

    The CSS is easy enough to get the 4th column:

    	.footer-widget-area {
    		float: left;
    		margin-bottom: 0;
    		width: calc(100% / 4);
    	}

    Just need the fourth widget!

    Many thanks.

    It works for me. Did you clear you cache and also add your additional CSS? Give a link to your site.

    Hi @Anita,

    It works for you on the latest version fo the Genesis Sample theme?

    Maybe something is wrong with my functions.php file 🙂

    The site is under a rebranding project so I have to be careful with sharing a link sorry. I will strip out the functions.php file tomorrow and just add the add_theme_support( 'genesis-footer-widgets', 4 ); code and see how it goes.

    Thanks for getting back to me @Anita and @Brad

    Hmmm, no good at my end still?

    Tried on basically a clean install with genesis sample 3.3.0 here: http://base.hobartwebdesigns.com.au

    Add theme support for 4 footer widgets and adjust CSS as per original post. The CSS makes the space for the 4th widget but there is no 4th widget in Appearance > Widgets

    4 column theme support

    3 Footer widgets only

    A bit more testing...

    It does seem like the footer widgets are handled a bit differently in the latest genesis sample. Just enabled Genesis Sample 2.2.3 (2016) - 4 column widgets works perfectly (same site) with add_theme_support( 'genesis-footer-widgets', 4 );

    Official support says:
    Can I ask where you found that code snippet? Just so I can double-check that it's still a supported Genesis snippet; I did see references to it online, but I didn't find it in the Genesis developer documentation on an initial search.

    It worked for me on the one website because I had modified my original file. The code snippet you're using won't work with Sample. The file you need to update is here. If you're in the theme editor, go to this file on the right --> config/theme-supports.php

    You can change the number of footer widgets there. It defaults to 3. Change to 4.
