Upgraded to WP 4.9 earlier and my home page video size went wonky. Tried the code on another non-4.9 WordPress site and it's fine. Reverted the site back to 4.8.3 and it's fine. So it's just the 4.9.
Deactivated all plugins and that didn't solve it.
So it muse be something with the 4.9 WP files. Anyone have any idea how to resolve or fix?

Have you requested your free website audit yet?November 17, 2017 at 1:49 pm #213688LynnMemberUsing embed code from YouTube in home top widget. Other areas are working fine (ex. in an actual page or post).
November 18, 2017 at 5:05 am #213700Victor FontModeratorYou don't need the YouTube embed codes with WordPress. Since WordPress 2.9, all you have to use us the YouTube URL. WordPress automatically does the embedding. In your page or post, just add the url. https://codex.wordpress.org/Embeds

Have you requested your free website audit yet?November 18, 2017 at 6:43 pm #213722LynnMemberThat's not correct with the home top widget. I can add the link but it ignores the video size entirely and will not align it left. If you look at the URL I provided you can see the code I'm using.
I've tried it using the Insert Media link in a Text widget and I tried it using the YouTube embed code... both ignore the actual size of the video completely. Any workout to get a video and text or image to lay the way I need with the 4.9 update?
November 19, 2017 at 5:35 am #213732Victor FontModeratorYou never said you were using a widget. If you're using widgets, you have to use the WordPress video shortcode and include the size parameters. WordPress V.4.9 updated the built-in media elements player to the latest version.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?November 20, 2017 at 9:34 am #213787LynnMemberHi, Victor.
Here is my original code that worked great in every other WP version:
<div style="float: left; margin-right: 10px; margin-bottom: 20px;"><iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Cl23E_NGPkU?rel=0" width="560" height="315" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div> <a href="/inner.html" target="new"><img src="/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/home-page-offer.jpg" /></a>
When I use that now, WP ignores the sizing. I've tried a variety of things and nothing seems to work. Based on your reply I also tried:
<div style="float: left; margin-right: 10px; margin-bottom: 20px;">[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cl23E_NGPkU[/embed]</div> <a href="/inner.html" target="new"><img src="/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/home-page-offer.jpg" /></a>
But that does not work either. What am I missing?
November 20, 2017 at 10:13 am #213788Victor FontModeratorYou're not specifying the height and width: [embed width="560" height="315"]. The instructions are shown in the codex: https://codex.wordpress.org/Embeds

Have you requested your free website audit yet?November 20, 2017 at 10:43 am #213791LynnMemberThat still doesn't work. It's still refusing to accept dimensions.
November 20, 2017 at 11:33 am #213793studiokidMemberThat's why i always some days and then update wordpress. This happens sometime and wordpress team fix the bug and re-introduce another version to update.
Still my website: https://bloggersneed.com/ using the old version.
I am waiting for another bug fix update and install it... Follow the same..
November 20, 2017 at 6:15 pm #213814LynnMemberI got it to work finally. Had to use the Custom HTML widget instead of the old Text widget. StudioKid hopefully that helps you 🙂
