Thank you both for your responses. Sridhar, your idea intrigues me but I'm afraid I'm out of my league. If you have time, would you be so kind as to tell me how to implement it for each screen size?
As for adjusting the width values; how does one know what the next set of numbers should be? For example, for @media only screen and (max-width: 840px), how do I determine the correct .content and .sidebar values?
meltdownMemberHi Gary - Thanks for your response. I see what was the culprit. I want to increase the width of my content area and decrease the width of my sidebar. To do so, I added the following to my Additional CSS Customizer:
.site-inner, .wrap { margin: 0 auto; max-width: 1200px; } .content { float: right; width: 900px; } .sidebar-primary { float: right; width: 260px; }
This did the trick but obviously threw the mobile responsiveness out the window. Can you tell me how I might achieve the desired results without doing so?
Thanks!
meltdownMemberOK, this was as simple as me not clearing the cache. A neat trick by the support people:
Clearing your browser cache and any caching or minification plugins can help. Incrementing the version number in your child theme's functions.php after making changes to your stylesheet is also worthwhile:
define( 'CHILD_THEME_VERSION', '3.2.4' );
Changing the version there will append a new cache-busting string to the stylesheet URL and cause the browser to fetch a fresh copy.Happily resolved 🙂
meltdownMemberAnd one more thing, if I may: I would like to change the background color of the .content area, and give it a little wiggle room. This works if I add it to Additional CSS Customizer:
background-color: #E7DDFF; padding: 20px 30px 5px;
But the padding upsets the page layout (if I use no padding, the content is butted up against the edge of the content area).
If I attempt to add the code to .content in the stylesheet, it seems to have no effect. How can I apply this? Thanks again.
meltdownMemberI see that if I apply the desired changes to .site-inner, .wrap, .content and .sidebar-primary in my style.css, then the mobile version of the site retains its integrity, meaning that the content remains visible within the confines of the mobile screen, as desired.
However, this does not work if I copy and paste the changes to my Additional CSS Customizer. Are the changes still protected from being over-written on a theme update?
Thanks.
meltdownMemberI see it now: Appearance > Menu > Menu Settings > Display Location
meltdownMemberThank you! I'll give it a look 🙂

meltdownMemberNo worries, I've worked it out:
div.site-container .front-page-2 { background-color: #0b3c5d; }
December 5, 2017 at 12:39 am in reply to: Smart Passive Income Theme: Full Width Responsive Header Image #214267meltdownMemberHi Victor - Thanks for your response. I've updated my functions and stylesheet as suggested, to correspond with my desired image size. And while I can see that the header image space itself has expanded to fit my new, larger image size, the image itself is still being displayed as very small. I've tried clearing my cache but no go.
Also, via this tread I've modified my stylesheet as follows:
.header-image .site-title > a { background-position: center !important; background-size: contain !important; display: block; height: 300px; margin: 0 auto; max-width: 1613px; }
to specify the width. Again, no change. Any pointers as to what I'm missing?
Thanks again.
