Ohh...I think you may be on to something! I had pasted something in, and it fully appeared to be straight text (as was my intention). When I pasted it elsewhere, there was an embedded link lurking in the text.
I removed that link, entered the text by hand, and I'm getting a lot further than I have been all day.

Thank you so much for your help! I'm still tinkering now with adding the HTML I originally wanted to add, so hopefully we're out of the woods. I really appreciate it!

As it stands now, it's showing with the text widgets MIA. I can populate some if that would help at all.

At this point, text only. The Home Top text box has the same HTML as in the Theme set up instructions.
It seems to work ok when I have 1 text box in each Home Top, Footer 1, Footer 2 and Footer 3.

When I add a text box into the Primary sidebar as the third widget (I have 2 there now - a search and a Simple Social widget), that's when it seems to break, and all the other text boxes mysteriously disappear.

Removing the whole chunk of code caused a white screen...some tweeking got it working, but with an error.
Through trial and error, I pulled out the right part, (noted at link above), and it seems to be working right now.

K...so doing some experimenting, and I found that when I removed just this part of the code, it worked:

Don't know if it's a big fluke, but it's working, so I'm going with that for now 🙂
