Thank you for your questions. here we go...
when I google my site- it only showed up in another website called Protectstat.com (and had info about my site) - not sure what this is?

I did tick the box to: "Discourage search engines from indexing this site".

Not yet sent the site map.

I believe ticking the "Discourage search engines from indexing this site" puts the robots.txt file into the header of site.

Thanks for the reassurance.. you this what I have is ok then? Just wondering why I can still see the theme and why it doesn't show a 404 or something like "this is not live yet".
