January 6, 2017 at 6:22 pm in reply to: Blog Summary Questions for Home Page – Masonry Layout, Excerpt Length #198905NYCBeeMemberIs there a way to do this that does not cost additional money?
Can anyone at least suggest a way to show only an excerpt from the post with a Read More button rather than the entire post? I am using the Genesis theme.
NYCBeeMemberOr is there an easier way to add a widget area right under the header (it will be for a post slider)? Thank you.

NYCBeeMemberI found The Genesis - Simple Hooks Plugin as well as this set of instructions on how to create a new widget area. http://my.studiopress.com/tutorials/register-widget-area/
I took this code from the link above and tried to paste it in the plug in section for 'Genesis_Before_Content'. It just spit it out as text directly on the website rather than creating a widget area. I also wasn't sure whether to check execute php or execute shortcode but I tried all combinations.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
//* Register center homepage widget area
genesis_register_sidebar( array(
'id' => 'center-homepage',
'name' => __( 'Center Homepage', 'Genesis' ),
'description' => __( 'This is a widget area that can be placed in center of homepage', 'Genesis' ),
) );Is this part supposed to go into home.php rather than the plug in? I can't find home.php. And if I did, what do I enter into the plug-in? The sample seems like it's for after a post and I want it on the home page. Sorry I'm so confused!
NYCBeeMemberI downloaded the plug-in. It says I place it in any widget area but I want it in the center of the page taking up the same width as the content and the sidebar. Right now the only options for widget areas I see are Header Right, Sidebar, and Footer. Is there a way to create a widget area just below the header? Thanks
NYCBeeMemberI just tried it in an incognito window. I think maybe cached files affected my ability to see it? Thank you for your help!
NYCBeeMemberI tried to change font size but it had no effect. This was the code I changed:
.genesis-nav-menu {
clear: both;
font-size: 16px;
font-size: 1.6rem;
font-weight: 600;
line-height: 1;
width: 100%;
}I changed it from 16px to 24x. I also tried changing 1.6 rem to something higher but not effect.
NYCBeeMemberThanks Brad.
It's http://www.financewithstickfigures.com and I am using straight Genesis framework.
NYCBeeMemberAh, sure thing.

January 5, 2017 at 4:19 pm in reply to: Reskinned A Blog – Missing Customize Options Shown in Tutorial #198817NYCBeeMemberLooks like the Genesis Sample file in Downloads was the child theme I needed to use and I was using one from the Childify Plugin that created issues? I think it's fixed! Thanks.
