Perhaps a better question to start with would just be: how would one generally enable comment counts on the summary page and at the top of the post's page assuming now custom code had been added?
NYCBeeMemberI've got it now. Thank you so much, Brad.

NYCBeeMemberIf I just insert an image and align left, it only allows me one line of text on the same line as the image. I'd like to have the text wrap so that there is text spanning the same length of the entire image rather than just one line. Is there a way to accomplish that?
April 3, 2017 at 4:27 pm in reply to: How to change what shows up in summary of post on homepage #204242NYCBeeMemberThanks Brad. I don't see an excerpt box on my Edit Post page. Right below the main text box for the post I have options for Layout Settings and Scripts. I also have some options from my Yoast SEO plugin that allow me to change the snippet for search engines. I ran a word search for the word excerpts just in case I was having a blind bat moment. Where would I find the excerpts box you're talking about?

January 12, 2017 at 3:44 pm in reply to: Adding a Bar of Color Right Below Header (Of A Certain Width) #199300NYCBeeMemberThanks Victor. I'm very new to making changes in wordpress. Do you know what code I would need to enter in .site-header and .wrap or is there a tutorial I should read?

January 12, 2017 at 1:46 pm in reply to: Genesis Theme – How Do I Show Only Excerpts of Posts on Main Page? #199291NYCBeeMemberHmm, I'm not using the read more tag so I used the one for the content limit:
//* Modify the Genesis content limit read more link
add_filter( 'get_the_content_more_link', 'sp_read_more_link' );
function sp_read_more_link() {
return '... [Continue Reading]';
}I even tried the one for using WordPress's read more tag and added a read more tag in one of my posts to see if that combination would work. Neither of them seem to do anything.
NYCBeeMemberIt's strange - I checked "clear cached images and files" in Chrome's browsing data tab for the past four weeks, closed out all of my tabs, restarted and entered the website url. It's now showing dark gray which is an old change I made to that line but it's not showing the new line. Are there other options I need to check? It seems to be on a delay and I don't know how to control it..
NYCBeeMemberSorry, it should be back up now.
January 7, 2017 at 1:45 pm in reply to: How Can I Change The Number of Post Summaries Shown Per Page on Homepage? #198974NYCBeeMemberThank you, Brad!
NYCBeeMemberIt's perfect now. Thank you!!
NYCBeeMemberTo clarify, I see in Slider Settings an option to change the size but it's more the size of the gray box around it also shrinking and the alignment so that it's centered on top of the content and the sidebar.
And is there a way to add ... at the end of the excerpt in the slider? It just ends abruptly right now and I don't see anything in Genesis->Slider Settings to change this.
NYCBeeMemberI see it now! Do you know how to change its size? I want the gray box around it and the slider carousel itself to be the same width as the content and sidebar combined. Right now it's looking a little wonky as you can see on the site. But it's on there now!
Thanks.
January 7, 2017 at 12:48 pm in reply to: Genesis Theme – How Do I Show Only Excerpts of Posts on Main Page? #198963NYCBeeMemberI tried the code but there isn't actually a read more link on my site. It just has "[...]" after the excerpt and it is not a link. Adding that code in functions.php doesn't appear to have caused any changes.
NYCBeeMemberThanks Brad. Does it matter where I put it in functions.php? Also, I adapted the code from something that was supposed to be a sidebar and am not sure it's correct (it still says genesis_register_sidebar( array( but I don't know what to change it to). How will it know that I want it right under the header unless I put it in a specific place in functions.php?

Do you know how I can get the brackets around the "..." to go away? They show up at the end of the excerpt.
Do you know how I show a read more button which will take you to the full post?Really appreciate your help!
NYCBeeMemberDo you know how I would go about creating a new widget area? I posted a new thread topic since it was for a slider but I'm running into the same issue around figuring out how to create the new widget area.
I want to create a new widget area right underneath the header. I want its width to be equal to the width of the content and sidebar combined.
I found The Genesis - Simple Hooks Plugin as well as this set of instructions on how to create a new widget area. http://my.studiopress.com/tutorials/register-widget-area/
I took this code from the link above and tried to paste it in the plug in section for 'Genesis_Before_Content'. It just spit it out as text directly on the website rather than creating a widget area. You can see it up there if you visit the url to the website.
I also wasn't sure whether to check execute php or execute shortcode but I tried all combinations.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
//* Register center homepage widget area
genesis_register_sidebar( array(
'id' => 'center-homepage',
'name' => __( 'Center Homepage', 'Genesis' ),
'description' => __( 'This is a widget area that can be placed in center of homepage', 'Genesis' ),
) );Is this part supposed to go into home.php rather than the plug in? I can't find home.php. And if I did, what do I enter into the plug-in? The sample seems like it's for after a post and I want it on the home page.
NYCBeeMemberYou're kind of amazing. I think you've answered three of my questions in the last 24 hours. Thank you.
