Even more strange, the HTML changes. Before I make the sidebar page my blog page, the HTML looks like this:
<div class="content-sidebar-wrap">
<main class="content"></main>
<aside class="sidebar"></aside> <------- here is the sidebar section
<div>Then, when I make it my blog page, the HTML is like this:
<div class="content-sidebar-wrap">
<main class="content"></main>
<----------no sidebar
<div>So as you can see, it isn't just a matter of the sidebar being visible. It actually disappears when I make the page my blog page.
mesmericMemberThanks for the advice. It is very strange. When I create a new page and select the sidebar layout, the sidebar works. Then, when I make that page the new blog page--the sidebar disappears.

It is now stuck with a sidebar on the right. I can only change the layout using the "Layout settings" box for the static "home" page. All 3 of the layout options work. None work for the posts page; all work for the home page.
Here is what I did to the files:
To recap: the "layout settings" options did not work on the "blog" page. I followed the instructions in the link above and solved the problem. Now the "layout settings" options all work for the static "home" page but the "blog" page is frozen with a sidebar on the right.
Why all this odd behavior? Why doesn't a basic function work normally on this premium framework?
Thank you.

Before I tweaked the files in the back end, this function did not work for the posts page!
I would still really like to know the answer to my question above: why this hassle on a premium framework?
