Can you tell me what you are seeing on line 913? When I open it up in my editor I think it must be adding extra spaces I'm not seeing the padding.
Extra question... what do you use for editing that maybe doesn't add extra spaces?
The default does, I set up my own site over the weekend with Beautiful-Pro and the read more button is showing plus it shows in the demo as well.

martagParticipantThank you! Just what I needed. 🙂
martagParticipantThanks! (got a little distracted by Christmas and late replying).
I'll definitely try your suggestion John. Appreciate it.
martagParticipantSorry! Forgot to reply. Thanks for letting me know, that is what I thought would happen.

martagParticipantThanks - She is fine on Genesis but it is the child theme. The Pure Elegance on her site is the 1.1 version and when I check her download account there is a 2.0 and wondering if we can upgrade to get her better mobile responsive features.

martagParticipantYou are right - I should have been clearer. It is resizing which is great but making it so small on my iPhone you can barely read it. With the method you have posted I have been able to get it to not go so small and keep the height to width ratio work nicely but they were in different themes. Thinking I need to go to a different header method to keep it from going so small.
I did try Nick's plugin first thing but it wouldn't size it correctly either, even with the images set for the different widths. I'm finding that the plugin doesn't work in most of the newer -pro versions of the themes unfortunately.
Thanks for looking.
martagParticipantLet's try that again, that would help alright! I'll put it in the body here instead of the URL box:

@nutsandbolts --> I also tried your method and couldn't get it to work. Thanks!
~MartamartagParticipantAha! Thank you! This is starting to make sense now. Appreciate all your help.

martagParticipantThanks for the reply.
I did but changed it back it didn't work. Tried it again since I was really tired when I tried it the first time LOL. 🙂
For this theme I had to put it under: #header .wrap
And still can't get the height to work especially on smaller phone screens. Tablet screens it isn't as noticeable.
Any other suggestions? Thanks again for your time.

martagParticipantThanks again nunotmp - that helped me track down the problem. Went to tech support and they told me about a bug in the theme that hid that feature. Removed:
the Custom Header code from the functions file and like magic... the logo/header shows back up!

martagParticipantAaah, that is probably it! That option is not showing under the Genesis Theme Settings. I had this happen once before, long time ago, need to remember how I restored that option on the settings page.
Only have: Information, Color & Style, Custom Feeds, Default Layout, Navigation, Breadcrumbs, Comments & Trackbacks, Content Archives, Blog Page Template, Header & Footer Scripts.
Anyone know how to restore that option?
