Everything is resolved now.
I'm not going to try to put the navbar underneath for a while I think (out of fear hehe).
Thank you soi much for helping me. I followed you on Twitter 😉
I'm also liking your FB!
Have a good night.
ludvigMemberOk.
Done and done deactivated and emptied cache. But it still looks the same to me, maybe because it looks different for admin vs visitor?
I have to go away and work for a few hours now. But I'll be back in ca 4-6 hours.
The worst part should be over now 😉
Btw, got any ideas of how to move the nav to the left (<---), seeing as how it's indented ca 50 px to the right as of now.
I really appreciate your help, thanks a lot!
ludvigMemberSo it looks normal to you (beneath the header)?
Here's how it looks to me on my computer:
But it looks fine on my mobile phone.
This is strange.
ludvigMemberDone and done.
Now the whole content (?) section is displaced.
ludvigMemberThat was a long time ago (before I tried taking it out and putting it in yesterday), I found the following php code:
/** Moving Your Primary Navigation before Header **/
remove_action( 'genesis_after_header', 'genesis_do_nav' );
add_action( 'genesis_before_header', 'genesis_do_nav' );ludvigMemberNow I'm changed back the background color, and this clearly shows that the size (length) of the nav bar has shrunk somehow.
Any idea on why this is and how it can be fixed?
It used to automatically stretch across the whole upper section above the header (full width), not it doesn't.,
ludvigMemberOk.
Any idea why the nav isn't back to normal? (I've not altered it from before, yet it has the default styling). I'm trying stuff in the CSS.
Thanks for helping Andrea, you're saving my day!
ludvigMemberAh...!
Thank you so much!!!
Could you explain why this fixes it?
And what do you think caused it in the first place?
I definitely did not remove such a section from my CSS before when it happened.
ludvigMemberBump.
I still haven't been able to fix the issue, and I have no idea what it is that i've done to displace header by moving the navbar.
Does anyone understand why?
ludvigMemberYes, that's how it's supposed to look (with the exception of the unstyled navbar)
-----------------------------It should be fine according my css & PHP, I've no idea why it keeps bugging me..
Here's how it has looked for me for the past 2 hours and I've been trying to fix it.
Maybe it's my internet that's playing a trick on me..
Any idea about why it's acting up for me on my screen?
October 24, 2013 at 7:09 am in reply to: Removing comments from yourself + trackbacks from featured comments widget #68606ludvigMemberIt's just called "Recent Comments"
I would assume it is the standard widget by wordpress.
It's strange, because you rarely see popular blogs that show their own comments/trackbacks - it makes it look bad when you mass respond to comments because then the "recent comments" is flooded and shows only your answers.
October 23, 2013 at 11:16 am in reply to: Removing comments from yourself + trackbacks from featured comments widget #68465ludvigMemberbump.
Anyone know how?
PS:
I know it is possible to edit the visibility of the widget, but as far as I know that doesn't take into account comments/trackbacks, but only the entire widget from showing or not. And I don't want o remove the widget, just my own comments and trackbacks.October 23, 2013 at 11:14 am in reply to: Streamline Theme – moving simple social icons above header #68464ludvigMemberI used the same tutorial and it worked with my "simple social icons" plugin, but looked very bad.
So I wanted to use the "Social Media Widget" recommended in the post. But it only shows one icon per row, I can't seem to get them all to align on a single row. It is weird because I have followed the tutorial perfectly.
Did you have the same issue?
ludvigMemberThat's what I had done before.
But I did it again and now it worked. Strange.
Nevertheless, thank you!
Issue resolved.
ludvigMemberThanks!
Fixed it manually. The issue was that my wordpress did not show that option by default, I had to check a box in the "edit post" pages at the top for the "discussion" setting to show up, then I could simply cancel it.
ludvigMemberThank you my good sir 🙂
That was exactly what I was looking for!
September 8, 2013 at 1:27 pm in reply to: Streamline Theme – moving simple social icons above header #61381ludvigMemberI got it working by changing it to this in the functions.php file.
/** Register new widget area **/
genesis_register_sidebar( array(
'id' => 'before-header',
'name' => __( 'Before Header', 'streamline' ),
'description' => __( 'This is the before header section.', 'streamline' ),
) );/** add the above widget hook **/
add_action( 'genesis_before_header', 'custom_before_header' );
function custom_before_header() {
genesis_widget_area( 'before-header', array(
'before' => '<div class="before-header widget-area">',
) );
}But it didn't look very nice. I want to get the icons to the navigation area for it to look nice, but I do not understand quite how.
September 7, 2013 at 3:59 am in reply to: Moving the location of simple social icons in header right #61201ludvigMemberThanks. That solved it!
Ps:
For anyone reading this and using Firefox, I suggest using the "firebug" plugin that shows CSS, HTML and more stuff. It makes it easier to spot the padding, margin, etc..ludvigMemberI see.
Cool. I really appreciate you taking time to help me.
ludvigMemberHm.. Ok.
Damn, I can't believe no one else has had to before to solve this problem. I've been searching a lot for how other people have solved this, but I can't find anyone.
All posts I find are only about hiding posts using categories.
I'll keep searching and update if I find something.
In the meantime I will inactivate the feature picture command.
