Hi Susan, sorry for the late reply. I found a plugin "CSS3 Image & Text Overlay" which did the job perfectly.
Thanks for your response.
Cheers

What do I open the stylesheet with? I have only used Dreamweaver before, and that shows line 55 as "Image header - full width". Do I go down to the section where that is in more detail, delete what is there and add in the new code you sent me? Thanks, Leanne (in ignorance 🙂

Add "background-position: center !important;" to the #header rule
I found it in the archived posts just now. Not sure where to add it (stylesheet etc) but I remember using it recently and it worked.
Hope it helps
Cheers

leannemorrisonParticipantOh Charlie, you are surely my Christmas present! A big thank you. I had no idea about Firefox and Firebug. It makes life so much simpler! I was a Google only girl, but have now downloaded Firefox and Firebug and can see what you are talking about.
Once again my sincere thanks to you and all those who have given me assistance with this. I really really appreciate it.
Merry Christmas and Cheers to you all

December 17, 2012 at 4:30 am in reply to: CSS Help please? How do I remove text shadow in menu please? #5708leannemorrisonParticipantThanks Katrina, I tried what you sent i.e.
.menu-primary li a:active,
.menu-primary li a:hover,
.menu-primary .current_page_item a,
.menu-primary .current-cat a,
.menu-primary .current-menu-item a,
.menu-secondary li a:active,
.menu-secondary li a:hover,
.menu-secondary .current_page_item a,
.menu-secondary .current-cat a,
.menu-secondary .current-menu-item a,
#header .menu li a:active,
#header .menu li a:hover,
#header .menu .current_page_item a,
#header .menu .current-cat a,
#header .menu .current-menu-item a {
background-color: #fff;
color: #b2c802;
}
and then added in
text-transform: none;
at the end before the final bracket and it works fine on my desktop computer. However, on my iPad, it makes the text in the menu for the current page lower case, when it should be uppercase. Any thoughts?
Thanks again, Leanne
December 17, 2012 at 1:05 am in reply to: CSS Help please? How do I remove text shadow in menu please? #5685leannemorrisonParticipantHi Katrina, thanks for your quick response. The main menu items (for all pages except the one the user is currently on) seem to have double typing or ghosting of the text (like you are seeing double or blurry text) like in a misprinted newspaper page.
Do you have any idea of exactly where I should add "transform: none" please? I can't see any sections that specifically relate to hover, there are many mentions of it throughout the stylesheet. I've tried it in all the obvious places in the header section of the stylesheet, but it has not made any difference.
Thanks, Leanne
leannemorrisonParticipantDon't worry - I fixed it!
For anyone else looking for the answer, I went to
#header .menu .current-menu-item a { background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #666666; text-shadow: none;
and changed the colour there.
Thanks once again for your assistance Aaron. You are a lifesaver!
leannemorrisonParticipantTHANK YOU so much Aaron, that did the trick. Just one other thing please?
Naturally when I started changing colours, it had a flow on effect, and you fix something here, and some other issue pops up there ....
In the menu (Home, About Bendalls, Projects & Case Studies etc), I have CHANGED the background to black and the text now to white. I have also changed the dropdowns from a white background to black, with light grey text.
Due to the fact I changed the main menu text to white, it does not show up against the white background when these pages are hovered over.
I would like to change the hover menu items to dark grey with black text. Where would I change these please?
Many thanks in advance
Leanne
December 3, 2012 at 4:31 pm in reply to: Need urgent help please – dropdown menu going behind content on home page #3150leannemorrisonParticipantthanks for your reply - very much appreciated. I have been researching the issue flat out and found that the issue seems to be with the Youtube embeds in iframes specifically. The instructions are here if anyone is interested http://www.electrictoolbox.com/float-div-youtube-iframe/. Fortunately I think I managed to fix it myself just now (which is pretty amazing in itself!), which is probably why an hour after I posted the distress call that you can see it working properly.
Kind regards
Leanne
