That did it. Only thing is I had to turn off Yoast's WordPress SEO in order to bring up the redirect option. I don't think that will cause much of a problem as I hadn't done much to it other than the default settings. Anything I need to be concerned about there? My client isn't really making much effort in regards to SEO.
jalodicoMemberThanks again Tony.
One last question, where are you seeing 4 columns (Second section?)? Everywhere I look it's 3. Everything under the "Shop" drop down at the top is going to an archive page. That is a link in the menu to show the selected category page which I believe is an archive page for the category.
I think I changed the number of products to 3 columns using the code you provided above.
jalodicoMemberSpoke too fast. It worked on the "shop" page but not on the category "shop" pages. I added the first code and it worked.
Thanks again,
Jim
jalodicoMemberThat did it. I added just the second code you provided as I only need to change those archive/shop pages.
I'm not sure why the last row doesn't show. The example I sent with the white background was created with a short code but it shows the last row properly. The archive/shop page where we just added the white background still only shows one product on the last row.
Now that I've added more products to the page through the settings/number of posts, it doesn't stand out near as much now.
Thanks so much for your help with this. You've been a lifesaver.

jalodicoMemberIt looks like the "!important;" was changing the style of the product boxes in a way that didn't look so good. Removing it helped things line up better.
I didn't realize the number of products was in the reading settings. That helps a lot and shows much better. They don't use the blog so not a big deal. I added the second bit of style to fix that last row but it still didn't work. I didn't add the functions since there is no need for the blog. Is that why it isn't working?
The last thing I'd like to do is add a white background. I was able to do it in firebug but can't seem to get it to work on the site. It looks like it goes in the same code which you provided above. I tried it both with the important and without but it didn't work.
Same with the page numbers at the bottom. I was able to change the background color to white in firebug but can't seem to find it in the stylsheet. Is this being pulled from somewhere else?
jalodicoMemberThat's looking better but I'm not sure how to style it. I didn't see much difference with the CSS you suggested above both with the "important" and without.
I tried adding the archive-post.php template but that didn't look so good. So what determining the style of the categories link I shared above? Is there a way I can just copy that over so that the archive page looks the same?
I pulled that category page with short code that included the number of columns and products displayed. I was thinking if I could figure out where that is coming from I might be able to copy it into a new archive-product.php file to get a similar style.
If you look at the shop page now, you can see that it is showing three products on the top row but only two on the bottom. I see what controls the number of products across but what controls the number of rows down and why would it only show 2 instead of 3 products in that second row?
Thanks again Tony. You are a lifesaver.
jalodicoMemberThanks so much Tony. I'll give this a try and let you know how it goes.
Jim
jalodicoMemberThanks Tony,
I've been trying to make changes with Firebug but I can't seem to get it to work. I'd like it to show three across and offer a number of rows down.
I was able to set up some category pages using WooCommerce short code and the products look pretty good. The white background does help. I also like the shading on the boxes and the rounded corners.

I would be great if I could get the shop pages to look similar. I imagine it's a matter of pulling that template somehow but I'm not sure where it would go or even what template that is using.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and yes, I'm really good at copying and pasting code.
Jim
jalodicoMemberThat responsive test site helps. Looks like the logo is off to the right a bit and that is probably causing the problem. Now I need to figure out how to move it back to the left.
Also didn't know that Firebug worked on iPad.
Thanks for the help.
jalodicoMemberI found a fix for this. Thanks.
jalodicoMemberThanks.
I was thinking that there was a setting that would impact elements such as plugins that pick up the theme style (i.e. Genesis eNews Extender) but it looks like those are set individually.
jalodicoMemberThanks Sridhar. That looks like what I'm looking for.
jalodicoMemberHmm...hadn't thought of that.
However, although I actually did check the instructions before starting this thread (and searched the forum), hence the need to turn to the forum for help, the method for changing the background image in the instructions did not work. (appearance/background/background color).
Unless there are instructions other than the "get started" instructions of which I'm not aware.
jalodicoMemberSorry it's taken me so long to get back to this. I'm not getting email updates to the responses.
I used to do everything in WPSEO (which is the same as "Yoast" Billy) but eventually switched most of the sites I work with to Yoast as it is much more advanced. It sounds like most of the Genesis upgrades are covered in the Yoast plugin.
Of the plugins I've used, Yoast WPSEO doesn't seem to be one that burdens the site and I've spent some time lately looking at site speed.
Thanks all.
jalodicoMemberThanks for the help. I'll go ahead with the Genesis upgrade but leave Eleven40 as it is.
