I am also thinking it will be better idea to wait for Genesis 2 and WordPress 3.6 before customizing my theme.

I am not looking for inserting AdSense code. I want to insert this code just before content area starts  <!– google_ad_section_start –>  and this code just after single post content area ends <!– google_ad_section_end –> .

These lines say Google AdSense bot to focus on particular area of site so it can show ads related to content within these code.

    Read this http://support.google.com/adsense/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=23168

    Thank you
