What people see RIGHT NOW when browser is made smaller: (note how the featured posts area is longer than the slider, making it no longer flush against the blue space)

What I'd like people to see when browser is made smaller:

My issue is that the two widget columns don't stay flush against the top of the "Home Strap" area in blue while resizing.

MemberMy apologies - I probably didn't describe what I am looking to do well enough.
In desktop view you see the slider on the left, and featured posts area on the right. But when you resize the browser window, you'll see that the slider resizes appropriately, but the featured widgets remain a longer column. I'm looking to keep the ratio the same when the browser resizes, up until it snaps to full width for both the widget areas.
