dareadelParticipant
Thank you Tony. I have already started to create different media queries for the home widgets. Upon inspection, I saw that the only way to accomplish what I want is to put the widgets under different queries. I did something similar with the bootstrap theme but looks lime this One will be a painstaking task. I will give it a try and hope to share here when I am done. Thanks for your reply.
dareadelParticipant@nutsandbolts you are very correct. I unchecked the header image and my CSS styling took over. Thank you!
dareadelParticipantI should have been a little patient. I just resolved it with the following CSS:
body {
width: 75%;
margin: 0 auto 0 auto;}
dareadelParticipantI just solved the second issue with the following CSS code:
#about,
#services {
background-color: #222;
display: none;Hopefully this will not cause any other problems.
I still need help to reduce the body width.
dareadelParticipantThanks Anitac but I am building it on a localhost so I am not sure how to show it. But the demo is just the same with too many divs, I think.
dareadelParticipantI will create another thread for this issue.
dareadelParticipantThanks again Tom. I was tinkering with this also. The border doesn't look good no matter what I did. I will try your suggestion on my site and I will give you a feedback.
dareadelParticipantThanks to both. I am the one doing it wrong. The demo does not display content and I did. It's okay now and sorry for the trouble.
dareadelParticipantYou are right Susan. I guess I have been stuck using tables for many years. It works not and I think I should stop using tables from now on. Thank you very much.
dareadelParticipantI think I found the solution but I am not sure if I have created additional problems. I went to functions.php and I remove the following block of codes:
add_action( 'genesis_after_header', 'mindstream_featured_image' );
function mindstream_featured_image() {
if ( is_home() ) {
echo '<div id="featured-image"><img src="'. get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . '/images/sample.jpg" /></div>';
}
elseif ( is_singular( array( 'post', 'page' ) ) && has_post_thumbnail() ){
echo '<div id="featured-image">';
echo get_the_post_thumbnail($thumbnail->ID, 'header');
echo '</div>';
}
}Hopefully this is the solution but sorry for wasting he space here.
dareadelParticipantNot sure if you got help but the best way to get started quickly is to import the XML file to WordPress. Them theme XML file unzips to your computer folder when you bought the theme.
dareadelParticipantFor unknown reasons nothing works. I did exactly as you described before and I did again, yet the widgeted footer does not show. Even though the widgets are there (meaning they are properly registered) but the contents in the widgets is not showing.
Thanks for your help.
dareadelParticipantThank you Paula for taking the time to reply. I will try the plugin and hopefully I can get it to work also.
dareadelParticipantOne more thing, the widgets are there but they are not showing up. I am thinking if I need an accompanied stylesheet with the widgets.
dareadelParticipant@charriott4, I did remove the ?. It was an error posted from copy and paste. I noticed it but without the ? marks it did not work.
@anitac, yes, you are right. but I had it on the right file but I mentioned home.php here in error.dareadelParticipantWorked. Thanks Chrissy I am now following you on Facebook. Have a blessed weekend.
Sorry I don't want to be shy from asking you for another favor if you don't mind. I had this post here at http://www.studiopress.community/topic/expose-footer-code-not-working/ and have not been resolved and I was thinking I should ask you for help.
This footer code doesn't work as stated:
<?php if ( is_active_sidebar(“Footer #1) || is_active_sidebar(“Footer #2) || is_active_sidebar(“Footer #3) ) : ?>
<div id=”footer-widgeted”>
<div class=”wrap”>
<div class=”footer-widgeted-1″>
<?php if ( !function_exists(‘dynamic_sidebar’) || !dynamic_sidebar(‘Footer #1′) ) : ?>
<?php endif; ?>
</div><!– end .footer-widgeted-1 –>
<div class=”footer-widgeted-2″>
<?php if ( !function_exists(‘dynamic_sidebar’) || !dynamic_sidebar(‘Footer #2′) ) : ?>
<?php endif; ?>
</div><!– end .footer-widgeted-2 –>
<div class=”footer-widgeted-3″>
<?php if ( !function_exists(‘dynamic_sidebar’) || !dynamic_sidebar(‘Footer #3′) ) : ?>
<?php endif; ?>
</div><!– end .footer-widgeted-3 –>
</div><!– end .wrap –>
</div><!– end #footer-widgeted –>
<?php endif; ?>dareadelParticipantThere is no 10 in home.php. Here is what I have:
<?php
// Force the excerpt
remove_action('genesis_post_content', 'genesis_do_post_content');
add_action('genesis_post_content', 'the_excerpt');// Remove the archive thumbnail from the home page
remove_action('genesis_post_content', 'genesis_do_post_image');// Add featured image above title on teasers
add_action('genesis_before_post_title', 'expose_homepage_teaser_image');
function expose_homepage_teaser_image() {
global $loop_counter;
$paged = get_query_var('paged') ? get_query_var('paged') : 1;printf( '<p><a href="%s">%s</a></p>', get_permalink(), genesis_get_image( array( 'format' => 'html', 'size'=> 'Featured' ) ) );
}
// Add .portfolio-posts class to every post, except first 2
add_filter('post_class', 'expose_homepage_post_class');
function expose_homepage_post_class( $classes ) {
global $loop_counter;
$paged = get_query_var('paged') ? get_query_var('paged') : 1;$classes[] = 'portfolio-posts';
return $classes;
}add_filter('the_excerpt', 'expose_homepage_excerpt_filter');
function expose_homepage_excerpt_filter( $text ) {
return sprintf( '%s<p><a class="alignright" href="%s">Read More →</a></p>', $text, get_permalink() );
}require_once(PARENT_DIR . '/index.php');
dareadelParticipantFantastic! Thanks charriot4 and God bless you. You saved me from another hours of trying to find a needle in haystack.
It looks better except that it's showing 10 posts instead of 9 which I set in the Appearance>Readings page.
dareadelParticipantHello @pa247, I have a post here at http://www.studiopress.community/topic/another-expose-theme-help-needed/ and hoping you can help. I see the site you posted http://www.puregenesisproducts.com that has a nicely looking home page and this what I am trying to achieve in my question. If you don't mind, please give me some tips on getting this page right.
Thank you.
