secret garden book - The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett follows the adventures of Mary Lennox, a young 10-year-old girl which didn’t received love or affection from either of her self-centered parents, and was raised by the family's servants. She grows to be spoiled, selfish, and rude and after a cholera epidemic in India, everyone in her household is found dead except Mary. She is then transplanted to live with her uncle, whom she has never met before, at his manor in Yorkshire England. Here Mary meets her cousin Colin for the first time: a bed ridden boy who is just as spoiled as she is. From there, Mary discovers the existence of a "secret garden" which has been locked away for over 10 years after the death of her Aunt. As Mary and Colin begin to spend more and more time in the garden, their spoiled nature begins to change and they are transformed for the better in more ways than one by the unknown magical powers of the garden.
