I'm looking for the answer to this, too.  The walkthrough on getting the 'blog template' category page works fine, but I don't really get the point, it kind of looks exactly like the default category page... How can we get a short little bit of intro copy to preface the list of stuff you're going to see.

I wrote a block of copy which does not appear... It seems this would be a really obvious thing for people to want to do, builds some good Google indexable copy and allows your content to be dug into in a reasonable hierarchical structure.

+1 for this little helper.  My next task is to try and get a 'search' box into the header area of Magazine theme... if anyone has ever successfully done this, let me know!
