MemberYa Resolved it.
Actually just made a redirect to a page with the written info but that seemed to work. A bit scrappy but it works

MemberYeah I was looking for a php function that would do that. I'm no guru when it comes to writing functions so was hoping there would be some help in the forum.
A new search page template with the function in it would be ideal
Any ideas ???

MemberOk For anyone having this same issue.
I found the bug. I have featured post widgets in the sidebar that seem to overide the Grid settings on the homepage. No where else but on the homepage. So if my featured posts widget selects a category the grid automaitcally takes on that cat even if I exclude it. from the grid
Happy unbugging

MemberHey Bill
I added that code still no luck even tried installing the original functions.php file and home.php and the grid still shows the the category I'm trying to exclude category-13 and reloads the home page for the pagination links.
With that in mind do you think it's possible I have settings in the Dashboard area that are conflicting with the code??

MemberHey Bill
I see that. I'm trying to use the same grid that the balance theme uses.
This is my home.php code you'll see the exclude category I tried to use. https://gist.github.com/thewebattic/5723987
I did try add the function you showed above but nothing happened again.
Thanks for the help so far

MemberSimply Exclude didn't work.
I've tried stopping the category by adding the // exclude posts from this category// ( the code not the words in brackets ) in the homepage loop.
Never had this problem before.
Thanks

MemberJust on Specific pages.
Even using a site wide remove it keeps popping up

MemberHey Ryan,
Sorted the issue. That was a development site. the site is up and loaded. The transition effect was due to a background color and not selecting the right parenting structure to my css
Thanks

MemberHey Brad
Thats the exact code I'm using here'r my functions.php file. It seems to be in order ?? just not translating to the site.
I replace Filed Under with Under as a Test. I actually just want to remove filed under or just use a ·.
Thanks again

MemberI'm a total greenhorn, cutting and pasting with tweeks and workarounds to get things going but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. To be honest I'm needing to step up and get a deeper understanding, fortunately it always seems like I have to much work and not enough time to study.
Thanks for the help

MemberOne thing
Is it not possible to make the category of the page automatically call the category of the slider. Say for instance a Client adds a new category, that category wouldn't be in the conditional functions and would have to be manually coded.
