    Have you tried using the Google Publisher plugin? I just started using it and I like it. Follow the setup instructions. It may or may not be able to find that location to insert an ad.

    I figured it out just using css. I added white-space: nowrap; to the class and removed &nbsp from the shortcode posted above. Thanks foe the help.

    Thanks! That helped, but for some reason if there are any spaces in he author's name it breaks it onto multiple lines. I am able to add   next to "by" to fix the space before the author's name, but I am not sure how to fix it if there is a space within the authors name. Any idea?

    add_filter( 'genesis_post_info', 'post_info_filter' );
    function post_info_filter($post_info) {
    if ( !is_page() ) {
        $post_info = '[post_date] [post_author_posts_link before="by "]';
        return $post_info;
    }}
